The Illinois Children’s Healthcare Foundation (ILCHF) and Delta Dental of Illinois Foundation announced the creation of the Oral Health Nitrous Oxide Sedation Initiative, a new oral health program aimed at improving the oral health of children in Illinois. Both foundations are contributing $500,000 each in funding for programs designed to enable non-profit organizations to safely administer nitrous oxide to children requiring conscious sedation for oral health service.

Delta Dental of Illinois Foundation, the 501(c)(3) charitable arm of Delta Dental of Illinois, is pleased to announce a $1 million grant has been awarded to Advocate Health Care Charitable Foundation to assist in the funding of a new dental facility at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center.

Eighty-six Illinois schools will receive new water bottle-filling stations to encourage students to drink more water as part of H2O On the Go, a new grant program by Delta Dental of Illinois Foundation and Illinois Children’s Healthcare Foundation.
H2O On the Go allows for easier access to drinking water for Illinois students while at school and helps encourage them to choose water instead of sugary beverages such as soda, juice and sports drinks.

The Land of Smiles program has been temporarily shifted from a live show to a virtual experience for students due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The program was also refreshed with new characters who continue to teach young students about the importance of oral health in an engaging, fun way that makes learning more impactful.

Children’s Oral Health
Delta Dental of Illinois Foundation, the charitable arm of Delta Dental of Illinois, is committed to improving the overall health and well-being of Illinois residents, with a focus on children.
Over the past 12 years, the Foundation’s Land of Smiles program has visited 892 Illinois elementary schools, educating more than 426,000 Illinois children from ages pre-kindergarten through third grade on the importance of good health care.

Each year, National Hispanic Heritage Month is observed from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15, and represents a time to celebrate the history, culture and contributions of Americans with ancestry from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America.
As part of our commemoration of National Hispanic Heritage Month, Delta Dental of Illinois interviewed Dr. Genaro (Gene) Romo, a member of our Board of Directors and practicing dentist.

Delta Dental of Illinois Foundation, in partnership with Illinois Children’s Healthcare Foundation, awarded over $3 million in grants to 36 Illinois Federally Qualified Health Centers and other public health clinics that deliver vital health care services. The Foundations developed the grant opportunity to help offset costs associated with reopening and continuing operations during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Grants were focused on these health centers and clinics.

The Delta Dental of Illinois Foundation is in partnership with the Illinois Children’s Healthcare Foundation for a $3 million grant program for COVID-19 relief efforts and to ensure Illinois children continue to have access to vital oral health services. Grants are for Federally Qualified Health Centers and other public health clinics integrating oral health into a primary health care setting and aim to assist Illinois health care providers who offer a safety net for children in need.

Delta Dental of Illinois Foundation is accepting applications for its annual Community Grants Program that has awarded about $1.2 million over the past seven years to Illinois organizations dedicated to improving children’s oral health.
Applications for the 2020 Community Grants Program will be accepted from June 1 until 5 p.m. Aug. 3. The Foundation has doubled the maximum amount of the grants this year. One-year grants will range from $1,000 to $20,000.

Our Community Grants Program offers support to organizations that provide oral health care and/or education to children in Illinois. Delta Dental of Illinois Foundation has awarded nearly $1 million over the past six years to Illinois organizations committed to improving children’s oral health.
