How Does Your Oral Health Stack Up?

Posted on June 28, 2016 in General oral health

Annually, Delta Dental of Illinois conducts an Oral Health and Well-Being Survey asking Illinoisans about their opinions and habits related to oral health. This year's results uncovered a strong connection between oral health and overall well-being. In fact, the survey found that 77 percent of Illinoisans report their oral health as good, very good or excellent and about 84 percent rate their overall well-being similarly.

Illinoisans are more than twice as likely to report their overall well-being as good or better if they report their oral health as good or better. In addition, Illinoisans with dental coverage are much more likely to visit the dentist regularly than those without coverage.

Help maintain good oral and overall health all year with these simple steps:

  • Brush your teeth at least twice a day with a fluoride toothpaste.
  • Floss at least once daily.
  • Visit your dentist for regular check-ups and exams.
  • Drink plenty of water and eat a balanced diet for healthy teeth and gums.
