Gift Ideas to Keep Graduates Smiling
Headed to a graduation party this season? The graduate probably doesn't need another laundry basket or planner—but most college students could use a little help with their oral health. College students have likely relied on their parents to make dental appointments in the past and may not be very proactive in making their own. Give them a nudge in the right oral health direction with your graduation gift! Try one of these ideas for something different, yet healthy.
An electric toothbrush and refills. This may sound like a pretty boring present, but electric toothbrushes have come a long way—and they help some people brush better,1 so you're really doing your grad a favor. For the tech enthusiast, there are even toothbrushes equipped with Bluetooth that track how long the user brushes and how well they're reaching all areas of their mouth. Consider throwing in a pack of toothbrush heads as a reminder to replace the head every three months.
A subscription to a healthy snack box. For many students, college is a time to eat soda, chips, cookies, pizza and other junk food with no one there to tell them no. Encourage healthy habits by gifting your grad with a subscription to a monthly healthy snack box service. There are so many on the market, you should be able to find something to suit their tastes. We recommend looking for options like nuts, fruits, cheeses and lean meats (like jerky) to provide essential nutrients that will help prevent sugary snack binges.2
A fancy mouthwash dispenser. For grads that will be apartment-bound, class up their bathroom with a mouthwash dispenser. It will look much nicer sitting on the counter than an economy-sized plastic bottle, and there are options for every budget—glass, stainless steel and even crystal (seriously).
A water irrigator. This is another one for grads who love gadgets and technology. Water irrigators are shaped like electric toothbrushes, but they squirt controlled jets of water to clean in and around the teeth as if the user were flossing. Some of them come with tongue attachments,3 which can help improve bad breath (a must for any college kid meeting new people).
