Illinois Healthcare Reform

Posted on September 24, 2013 in Dental benefit information

Delta Dental LogoThe Illinois Health Insurance Marketplace opens for business in October. The implementation of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) in Illinois is wrought with complex issues and questions, and often no quick, easy or clear answers.

What does ACA mean for group dental benefits? Pediatric oral care is one of the 10 essential health benefits (EHB) required to be included as part of health coverage sold in the small-group marketing (2-50 enrollees) beginning Jan. 1, 2014. It was recently announced that the Treasury Department will not enforce the section of the ACA that requires large employers (51 or more workers) to provide health coverage for employees or pay fines of at least $2,000 per employee until 2015, giving these employers a one-year reprieve.

Your clients can keep the comprehensive dental benefit coverage they have today from Delta Dental of Illinois with no disruption to existing benefits. We have developed and are filing a plan that meets the pediatric oral EHB required by ACA. Delta Dental of Illinois will be able to add an exchange-certified pediatric dental plan that complies with ACA guidelines as a companion to the group's existing dental plan design for those groups that want or need to do so. (Please note: The plan design is being filed; no quoting or rates are available yet.)

Delta Dental of Illinois will continue to offer comprehensive dental plans that are easy-to-implement, easy-to-understand and easy-to-use. For more information on the ACA and Delta Dental of Illinois, visit http://www.deltadentalil.com.
