Join Delta Dental of Illinois and the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry for an online dental lecture series covering a variety of topics such as safe opioid prescribing practices, digital dentistry, cariology and prevention and managing stress. The online session will be held from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7, and the program will be presented by four UIC College of Dentistry professors. Safe Opioid Prescribing Practices

Dr. Sahni is a diplomate of the American Board of Orofacial Pain and a fellow of the American Academy of Orofacial Pain. Dr. Sahni specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of TMD disorders, facial pain and headaches, neuralgias, bruxism, sleep disordered breathing, oral mucosal lesions and oral cancer detection. She utilizes non-surgical and minimally invasive techniques to treat these conditions. In this session, she will discuss safe practices when prescribing opioids.
Incorporating Digital Dentistry into the Clinical Workflow

Dr. Rodriguez teaches several pre-patient care courses, including Digital Dentistry, Operative Dentistry and Introduction to Dental Implants. In addition, she teaches patient care in the Digital Dentistry Clinic and is involved in research and a current clinical trial evaluating pulp capping materials. In this session, she will discuss up-to-date and advanced treatment choices for patients.
Current Concepts in Cariology and Prevention

Dr. Semprum-Clavier specializes in early management and treatment of dental caries and teaches courses in operative, restorative and digital dentistry. She also serves as the pre-patient care director for the Advanced Standing DMD Program. Additionally, she is involved in research focused on remineralization and demineralization of hard tissues in populations that are high-risk for dental caries. In this session, she will discuss caries prevention and treatment techniques to reduce the risk of dental caries.
Managing Stress and Practicing Resilience

Dr. Raja is a licensed clinical psychologist and director of clinical behavioral sciences. She specializes in post-traumatic stress and trauma-informed medical and dental practice and has conducted research on understanding the role of traumatic and toxic stress on health and behavior. In this session, she will review evidence-based resilience strategies, and discuss how providers can reduce stress and improve their well-being.
