Foundation Seeking Applications for Community Grants Program

Eligible Illinois County organizations that improve children’s oral health must apply by Sept. 10

NAPERVILLE, Ill. - Aug. 8, 2018 – Delta Dental of Illinois Foundation, the 501(c)(3) philanthropic arm of Delta Dental of Illinois, is accepting applications for its annual Community Grants Program. Illinois organizations may apply for grants until Monday, Sept. 10, to fund programs and services that improve the oral health of children in our state.

The Foundation will award grants (up to $10,000) to programs and organizations that work to improve Illinois children’s access to oral health care and provide oral health education and awareness. Criteria and an online application are available at ddilfoundation.org/grantreq.aspx.

In the last five years, Delta Dental of Illinois Foundation has awarded nearly $800,000 through the Community Grants Program. Last year, the Foundation awarded 19 organizations more than $175,000 in grants. The grant recipients used the funds to support mobile dental programs, purchase dental hygiene equipment and tools, support the hiring of dental professionals and provide much-needed dental care and education to children.

“Unfortunately, there are many children in Illinois who don’t have the access, education or tools to properly care for their teeth. Therefore, many of them suffer from untreated cavities and more serious oral health problems,” said Lora Vitek, director of philanthropy and community relations, Delta Dental of Illinois Foundation. “We look forward to helping great organizations throughout Illinois continue their work to eliminate dental disease and improve the oral health and well-being of our state’s children by providing much-needed education and access to dental care.”

Grant applicants must have a physical presence in the state of Illinois; be a public charity classified as exempt from federal income taxes under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code; or be a public or governmental entity such as a public school or health department.
