Delta Dental of Illinois Foundation Board of Directors Elects Five New Board Members
NAPERVILLE, Ill. - September 7, 2012 -- The Delta Dental of Illinois Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Delta Dental of Illinois, elected five new members to its board of directors: Dr. Victor Ricardo Gonzalez, Mrs. Susan Hazlett, Mr. Chris Olsen, Ms. Leslie Richards-Yellen and Ms. Cindy Smalley.
“I am pleased to welcome these experienced and talented individuals to the Delta Dental of Illinois Foundation Board of Directors,” said Dr. Frank Maggio, chair of the Delta Dental of Illinois Foundation’s board of directors. “Their expertise, community involvement and passion for improving the lives of children in Illinois will help the Delta Dental of Illinois Foundation continue to grow and impact oral health throughout the state.”
Dr. Victor Ricardo Gonzalez practices pediatric dentistry in Aurora, Ill. Dr. Gonzalez is a graduate of Universidad de San Carlos De Guatemala College of Dentistry and University of Illinois College of Dentistry. He currently serves as adjunct faculty for Midwestern University’s College of Dental Medicine in Downers Grove.
Mrs. Susan Hazlett is the director of agency communications for State Farm Insurance in Bloomington, Ill. A graduate of Illinois State University, her freelance newspaper column has appeared weekly in The Pantagraph since 1994. She has won several Associated Press writing awards and Illinois State University's Outstanding Graduate Award.
Mr. Chris Olsen is the vice president of community & government affairs for Tate & Lyle. He is a graduate of Millikin University and earned his Master of Public Administration from University of Arizona. Olsen has been very involved in the Decatur community in the Chamber of Commerce, Decatur Public School Foundation and the United Way.
Ms. Leslie Richards-Yellen, a graduate of Cornell Law School, is partner and chief diversity and inclusion officer of Hinshaw & Culbertson, LLC. For more than 25 years, she has concentrated her practice in the public finance arena. Richards-Yellen is a member of Hinshaw’s Executive Committee, Chair of the Diversity Committee and a co-chair of the Attorney Life Committee.
Ms. Cindy Smalley is the director of marketing and communications for Cope Plastics in Alton, Ill. She is a graduate of Illinois Wesleyan University. Smalley is on the Executive Committee, Auxiliary Board and the Allocations Panel of the Southwest Illinois Division of United Way, and is also serving as the 2012 campaign chair. From 2006 to 2011, Smalley served on the RiverBend Growth Association’s board of directors.
