Financial Reporting Accountant

OVERVIEW OF THE POSITION:

The Financial Reporting Accountant is responsible for the completion of accurate financial statements both according to Generally Acceptable Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP).

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Prepare various regulatory filings including the annual/quarterly statutory blanks and audit reports.
Reconcile and prepare monthly investment entries and quarterly statutory investment schedules.
Responsible for payroll processing, reporting and accounting.
Prepare financial surveys as required by Delta Dental Plans Association.
Complete financial statements in an accurate and timely manner.
Assist with external audits, including workpaper preparation.
Support the analysis needs of the Finance department.
Prepare various management reports.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATONS:

BS degree in Accounting with 3 + years of relevant experience
Familiarity with GAAP and SAP accounting principles as they relate to the insurance industry
Ability to work independently on multiple projects simultaneously
Effective analysis skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills
High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
CPA certification preferred
